Access denied and sign-in errors

What the sign-in error, Access Denied, error and not-found pages mean, and what to check when a menu item is missing or a page refuses you.

QuantumOps shows a plain page, without the usual header and sidebar, when something stops you: a sign-in that fails, a page your role cannot open, an unexpected error, or a HaloPSA dashboard link opened in the wrong place. This page explains each one and what to do. These pages always use the dark theme.

The sign-in error page

You reach the sign-in error page (/AuthError) when signing in fails. Its title says why. Try Again takes you back to sign in, and Return to Home goes to the home page.

TitleWhat the page saysWhat to do
Organization Access RequiredYour account is not a member of this organization, and automatic provisioning is not enabled for your sign-in method.Ask an Administrator to invite you to the organisation, or to turn on automatic membership for your domain and connection type. See Inviting people, roles and agent links and Importing agents and organisation settings.
Sign-In CancelledYou declined the consent request during sign-in.Sign in again and accept the permissions when prompted. QuantumOps cannot be used without them. The same title appears when your sign-in service refuses the sign-in for another reason. If you did not decline anything, ask your administrator to check your account.
Additional Action RequiredYour sign-in service needs more interaction to finish signing you in.Try signing in again. If it keeps happening, contact your administrator.
Authentication ErrorAn unexpected error occurred during sign-in.Try signing in again. If it keeps happening, contact your administrator.

For the normal sign-in steps, see Signing in. For a new account, see Activating your account.

The Access Denied page

You reach the Access Denied page (/AccessDenied) when you are signed in but your roles do not allow the page you opened. It says Access Denied and "You do not have permission to access this page." It offers two buttons:

  • Return to Home takes you back to the home page.
  • Sign Out signs you out, so you can sign in with another account.

The page also shows Roles that can open this page: the roles that the screen you were refused accepts, as coloured badges. Ask an Administrator for one of them. The list belongs to the screen that refused you, so it differs from one screen to the next. It does not appear when the screen asks only that you be signed in, when its rule is not a plain list of roles, or when you open /AccessDenied directly; the page then shows only its general message. Most configuration screens need the Administrator role. Roles and access shows which roles open which screen.

To get access, ask an Administrator to give you the role the screen needs. Role changes apply at your next sign-in; sign out and in to pick them up now. See When role changes apply.

The error and not-found pages

  • Something went wrong appears when the server hits an unexpected error. It says "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again." and offers Return to Home. Try the action again. If it keeps happening, report it: say which screen you were on, what you did, and when, and include the ticket number if one is involved. Getting help explains how to reach TechPulse.
  • "Sorry, there's nothing at this address." appears inside the normal QuantumOps frame when you open an address that does not exist. Check the address, or use the sidebar. See Finding your way around.

Dashboards, Agent Assist, their action pages and the call recording matching page are made to open inside a HaloPSA tab. If you open one of their links directly in a browser tab, QuantumOps refuses it with a different Access Denied page. It says:

  • "This page can only be accessed when embedded in an authorized iframe context."
  • "Please access this dashboard through your HaloPSA interface where it is properly embedded."
  • "Direct URL access is disabled for security reasons."

The page also shows the address you tried. It has no buttons and no role list, so you can tell it from the Access Denied page above.

  • Opened from a pasted link or a bookmark: open the ticket or client in HaloPSA and use the tab instead.
  • Shown inside a HaloPSA tab: ask your Administrator to check the tab URL and the tab type.
  • The tab shows your browser's own message instead, such as "refused to connect": the HaloPSA site framing the dashboard is not allowed. Your own HaloPSA always is. A partner's HaloPSA must be listed under Allowed Embedding Origins. See Adding QuantumOps tabs to HaloPSA.

When a menu item is missing or a page refuses you

Work through these checks in order:

  1. The module is off. A link is hidden when its module is off for your organisation. Ask an Administrator to check Module Management. Modules reference lists what each module switches on.
  2. Your role does not allow it. Some links show to everyone and refuse you when you open them; Finding your way around lists them. Compare your roles with Roles and access.
  3. Your role changed recently. Role changes apply at your next sign-in; sign out and in to pick them up now. See When role changes apply.
  4. You are signed in as someone else. The header shows the account you are using. If it is the wrong one, select Log out and sign in again.
  5. You are in the wrong place. Dashboard links work only inside HaloPSA (see above).
