This page is for the person who sets up a new QuantumOps instance. It lists what to have in hand before you open the setup wizard, what can wait until after setup, and the order to work in.
Before you start: you need an account on the instance with the Administrator role, because only Administrators can open the setup wizard. If you have not signed in yet, begin with Activating your account.
Not setting up the instance? Start with Activating your account, then Signing in and Finding your way around. If something blocks you, see Access denied and sign-in errors.
What to have ready
Choose how AI runs
Step 4 offers two ways to run AI.
- Managed AI. Nothing to prepare. Leave the key fields empty and QuantumOps supplies the AI service.
- Your own keys. Have an API key ready from Anthropic, OpenAI or Together.ai. For Anthropic, also know your account's service tier; see Providers.
Setup wizard: AI and Q-Director walks through the step.
You do not need a webhook address
The Webhook URL item on the Welcome step's checklist is only a reminder; QuantumOps asks HaloPSA to create its webhooks when you complete setup. See Step 1: Welcome.
What can wait until after setup
None of these blocks the wizard. Come back to them when you are ready.
- Company e-mail domains. Step 3 lets you add them and, where your sign-in service supports it, prove you own them with a DNS TXT record. If you cannot change DNS today, skip the domains.
- Slack or Microsoft Teams. See Setting up the Slack app and Setting up the Teams bot.
- Documentation sources. See Documentation sources.
- Your phone system. See Connecting your phone system.
- Identity verification. See Identity verification.
- The browser extension. See The QuantumOps browser extension.
- Your ticket history. Step 11 offers an import. See Importing your ticket history.
How long it takes
The Welcome step estimates 15-20 min. Allow longer if you still have to create the HaloPSA API application or look up AI keys. The wizard keeps your progress; see How the wizard works.
The order to follow
- Activate your account and sign in. Until setup is complete, signing in takes you to the wizard.
- Run the setup wizard. Steps 2 and 3 connect HaloPSA and set up your organisation: Setup wizard: HaloPSA and your organisation. Steps 4 to 9 choose how AI and Q-Director behave: Setup wizard: AI and Q-Director.
- Add the QuantumOps tabs to HaloPSA. Step 10 of the wizard shows the addresses, and Adding QuantumOps tabs to HaloPSA covers it in full.
- Import your HaloPSA agents from Team Management. See Importing agents and organisation settings.
- Invite your team. See Inviting people, roles and agent links.
- If you ticked the ticket history import, follow Importing your ticket history.
